Experience the unique breathtaking coastline of Ireland in this physical and mentally demanding endurance challenge.

The Emerald Isle 3100 km is an epic long-distance cycling event that encompasses the entire coast line of Ireland.  Riders will experience 17 counties of both Ireland and Northern Ireland. This event is suited to the long distance cyclist and randonneur.

This event is designed to highlight the coastal points of interest along the 3100km route with competitors enjoying a unique tourist experience for both the timed event and bike tour. The noncompetitive nature of the bike tour event allows the participant’s sufficient time between segments to rest, event coordinators will suggest rest points however it will be at the discretion of the individual participants to schedule their rest stops for both sleep and food.
 Registration fee includes a minimum of two rest stops and a bag drop at 1300km


Route


The Emerald Isle 3100 km (#TEI3100) will start and finish in Dublin City. The city location will be made available at a later date and all competitors will be informed by Atlantic Series via emails and website/Facebook updates. This event is scheduled for 12th– 28th July 2018 and 14th – 28th July 2018.
The route beginning in Dublin, will take you north, exploring the beautiful coastline of Northern Ireland where you will join the Wild Atlantic Way and cycle it all the way to Cork. From there you take in the wonderful south east coastline of Ireland leading you back to Dublin.

The route will consist of control points that must be reached within a time period and riders will need to obtain “proof of passage” from a variety of commercial and information controls along the way. 
Progress of all participants will be available through live tracking during this event.



Categories


Timed Bike Event

Complete this event within time frames determined by the controls / checkpoints. Event duration 15 days. If a rider fails to reach a control/ checkpoint within a time frame they will revert to the tour type event and will no longer be in contention as a competitor in the timed event.

Bike Tour Event

Take part in a tour style event where by the total distance must be covered within 17 days. The option of completing the tour as part of a relay team is available on the Bike Tour only. This is an ideal opportunity for three, four, five or six person teams to take part.

Control Points

The route will consist of control points that must be reached within a time period and riders will need to obtain “proof of passage” from a variety of commercial and information controls along the way. 
Progress of all participants will be available through live tracking during this event.

Start & Finish


Start & Finish Location

Start Location will be Dublin City, Co.Dublin. Event end point Dublin City. The City locations are to be confirmed by event organisers, and will be updated here in due course.

Date & Time

The official start for the Timed Event is 6am Saturday 14th July 2018. Start date may default to Thursday 12th July for Bike tour riders, based on distance covered per day selection – this information will be sought during the registration process.

Rider Release Dates

Official start date is Saturday 14th July 2018. However in order to ensure all riders complete the event by the scheduled finish date 28th July 2018. Start dates will be allocated on the distance a rider aims to cover per day this also allows the event to cater for a wider range of human powered bikes.
Thursday 12th July 2018 Bike Tour Rider minimum 200km per day. (This allows ample time to take in many of the scenic locations the route travels through).
Saturday 14th July 2018 for riders that aim to complete in excess of 250km per day and for riders entering into the Timed Event.





Bike Classification


This event will be open to various classifications of bikes encompassing elliptigos, tandems, tricycles, recumbents, road bikes, any human powered bike etc. Rules of the road apply and all participants must wear properly fitted and CE marked helmets
